If you're here for Yasuke, then perhaps you don't need the story, but even so, read on.
Yasuke's origins are uncertain, but he is believed to have been born in Mozambique or Ethiopia around the 1550s. He arrived in Japan in 1579 as a servant or bodyguard to the Jesuit missionary Alessandro Valignano. His arrival caused a sensation, as the Japanese had never seen a person with dark skin before. According to contemporary accounts, Yasuke's height, strength, and skin color drew significant attention.
Meeting Oda Nobunaga
Yasuke's life took a dramatic turn when he met Oda Nobunaga, one of Japan's most powerful and influential warlords. Nobunaga was fascinated by Yasuke, reportedly due to his appearance, size, and strength. After verifying that his skin color was not ink or paint, Nobunaga took an interest in Yasuke and eventually made him his retainer. Yasuke quickly learned Japanese and adapted to the samurai lifestyle, which included martial arts training and adherence to bushido, the samurai code of honor.

Later Life and Legacy
After Nobunaga's death, Yasuke was reportedly handed over to the Jesuits, and his fate thereafter is unclear. Some believe he may have returned to missionary service, while others speculate that he remained in Japan or possibly even died shortly afterward. Yasuke's story largely faded from historical records, but his legend persisted.
In recent years, Yasuke has gained renewed interest, reflecting the growing recognition of his unique place in history as the first known Black samurai.
